Banca Sella clears MiCA notification to offer crypto services
Italian bank Banca Sella said it completed its notification process with the Bank of Italy under the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, becoming the first bank in Italy authorized to offer crypto-asset services. The bank plans to launch a solution for custody, transfer and receipt of digital assets in 2026 aimed at selected customer categories. Banca Sella, the commercial bank of Sella Group with nearly 300 branches and more than 2,400 employees, has prior crypto ties through a 2022 DLT pilot and Hype’s bitcoin wallet integration, and is a founder of Qivalis, a 37-bank stablecoin consortium.
