Sandoz files anti-dumping complaint over Chinese amoxicillin imports
Swiss generic drugmaker Sandoz filed a draft anti-dumping complaint with the European Commission over Chinese imports of the antibiotic ingredient amoxicillin, part of the penicillin family. Sandoz says it has the only major remaining vertically integrated production network for penicillins in Europe and accuses Chinese market-distorting behaviours including sustained below-cost pricing, state subsidies and concentration of global capacity in China. Chief executive Richard Saynor warned that up to 90% of global antibiotic active ingredients are now produced outside Europe, framing supply as both a health and economic security concern that may prompt policy action.
