Baku court admits appeal in Armenia leaders war crimes case

An appeal filed by several Armenian officials accused of war crimes and related offenses has been admitted to the Baku Court of Appeal, APA reports. The appeal includes complaints from Arayik Harutyunyan, Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, Davit Ishkhanyan, David Babayan, Levon Mnatsakanyan and others on charges such as crimes against peace, genocide, war crimes and terrorism. The appeal will be considered by the court under chairmanship of Judge Elmar Rahimov and the hearing begins today. The move follows a Baku Military Court verdict that handed life sentences to five named defendants and long prison terms to many others.
