SpaceX discloses $15 billion Starship spending
Reuters reported that SpaceX's confidential IPO registration says the company has invested over $15 billion in Starship, compared with roughly $400 million spent developing Falcon 9. The filing says Starship now takes the bulk of development spending, including all $3 billion of 2025 research and development for SpaceX's space segment, up from $1.8 billion the prior year. Starship is central to plans for V3 Starlink satellites, moon and Mars missions, and possible artificial intelligence computing satellites. The rocket has made progress, including a Super Heavy booster catch, but 11 test flights since 2023 also produced explosive failures.
