Mexico opens World Cup group against South Africa
Group A is set to begin on June 11 in Mexico City, with co-host Mexico facing South Africa and the Czech Republic and South Korea also in the section. Five of the six group games will be in Mexico, including two at the renovated Azteca Stadium, while the Czech Republic-South Africa match will be in Atlanta on June 18. Mexico enters with Javier Aguirre coaching again and hopes tied partly to 17-year-old Gilberto Mora. South Africa returns for the first time since 2010, South Korea brings Son Heung-min and a long World Cup record, and the Czech Republic qualified through a playoff shootout.
