White House builds UFC cage on South Lawn
The White House has started assembling a domed, octagon-shaped UFC cage, wire-mesh fencing and temporary seating on the South Lawn ahead of UFC Freedom 250 on 14 June. The promotion plans to spend about $60m on the project and says it will not profit, with parent company TKO calling the show an investment for the long term. The card features two title fights, including Alex Pereira versus Ciryl Gane and Ilia Topuria versus Justin Gaethje, and will host about 4,300 people on the South Lawn, mostly military, plus 85,000 free tickets for Ellipse Park viewers.
UFC Freedom 250 will take place at the White House on 14 June.
